Chapel of Perpetual Adoration, “Saint Michael the Archangel”
Worship of the Blessed Sacrament has been a source of inspiration for many saints throughout history. After communion, it is the most intimate moment we can live with our Lord. Contemplating Jesus in the Eucharist, these saints have experienced the truth in what Scripture says: “contemplate the Lord and you will be radiant” (Ps 33:6).
Since the Last Supper, when Jesus broke the bread and distributed the wine, saying, “This is my body and this is my blood,” Catholics have the firm conviction of this beautiful mystery of Transubstantiation; the substance of bread and wine it is transformed into the substance of Christ himself: Christ in body, blood, soul and divinity.
Our St. Katherine Drexel parish is immensely blessed with the “St. Michael the Archangel” perpetual adoration chapel. We have the gift of being able to visit Jesus and worship him freely when there are so many who would like to and for many reasons it is impossible for them.
It is amazing how a simple act of commitment to God makes a difference for the rest of our lives. We can be certain that the presence of Jesus remains in us when we leave the Chapel. His grace accompanies us in all moments, especially in those of temptation. It is easier to resist temptation when more time is spent in Worship. Being with Jesus is letting ourselves be loved, inspired, blessed, protected, healed, liberated and in turn we express our love, gratitude and respect for Christ our Lord. When you choose an hour of worship it is like an hour of paradise, an hour of the divine banquet, an hour greatly desired by your heart.
Eucharistic Adoration helps to increase devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Eucharistic Lord, the first to bear her real presence in the world, and the Mother of all whom He has called to be his brothers. Mary was the first tabernacle that existed!
If you have not yet made a commitment to the Lord to visit Him weekly for an hour, do not miss this great opportunity. Make up your mind today!
